Our Story

Meet the trio behind the scenes: Alex, Krista, and Ben, great friends bonded by their love for board games, adventure, and a good challenge.

 

Our journey into game creation began in Hoboken, NJ, and was sparked by our shared passions—travel, competition, and the desire to live life to the fullest. We found ourselves drawn to the idea of combining these elements into a game that would not only test our strategic wits but also reflect the zest we have for exploring the world.

When getting together with our other friends and family to hang out, the day often revolves around activities all day on the lawn or beach (from Croquet, Bocce, Frisbee, Beer dye, Beer pong, Spikeball) and games late into the night (Code Names, Pictionary, Catan, Barricade, Backgammon, Hearts, Spades). When we want to switch it up, we tend to make up our own versions of these games or better yet, CREATE OUR OWN! And THAT is how Bucket Race began. We took elements of all our favorite games and made our very own.

Drawing inspiration from our experiences over the years together…from skydiving, mountain climbing and nights out on the town, to countless road trips and globetrotting escapades…we envisioned a game that encapsulates the essence of our love for travel and experiencing new things! At the heart of it, our goal was to create an interactive tabletop strategy game that invites players to embark on a virtual journey across the United States, racing against fellow travelers to complete their bucket lists. 

The concept of bucket lists was another source of inspiration. We've always been fascinated by the idea of setting goals and the satisfaction of checking them off. Bucket Race is a celebration of those hopes and dreams, a reminder that life is a grand adventure waiting to be explored.

Through late-night brainstorming sessions, spirited debates over game mechanics, and the pure joy of creation, we birthed a game that mirrors our shared values and experiences. We hope Bucket Race brings you as much excitement, laughter and good times as it has brought us.
